The Design Studio
"A garden is never finished. It is a place we return to, season after season, and simply call it home."
Fieldwork Landscape Studio was founded in Bowral in 2016 by landscape architect Elena Marsh, after a decade spent designing gardens for country properties across the Southern Highlands and South Coast of New South Wales.
The studio began with a simple idea: that a garden should be planned with the same rigour as the house it surrounds. Structure first — the walls, the paths, the levels, the rooms outdoors — then planting, then time, which is the one material no designer can buy more of.
We work as a small integrated team of landscape architects and horticulturists, alongside the architects, builders and stonemasons who shape a property alongside us. Most of our work is long-term: master plans for country houses that are built out over several seasons, and established gardens brought carefully back to life.
